Himalayan Orthodox Tea Producers Association (HOTPA) was founded in 1998 through the collaborative efforts of small-scale farmers and entrepreneurs. Its establishment stemmed from the urgent recognition of the private sector’s pivotal role in poverty alleviation, employment generation within rural regions, and the fostering of economic growth in Nepal. HOTPA’s core mission centers around establishing orthodox tea as a prominent export commodity to boost the Nepalese economy. This distinguished association encompasses a diverse membership, encompassing small tea growers, tea gardens/ estates, and factories, collectively representing the entire Himalayan
Tea sector of Nepal.
HOTPA’S vision is to cultivate the highest quality of tea while fostering the development of a niche industry that empowers small-scale entrepreneurs and producers. This commitment underscores HOTPA’s profound social consciousness, dedicated to ensuring that everyone shares the benefits of business growth in farming.”
